After our landmark research experiment of supporting a dozen people to go car free in 2022, we did it again - and in 2024, it was in Oxford.
In 2022, we teamed up with local residents from cities across the UK to research what it’s like to try living car free. In March 2024, we teamed up with Low Carbon Oxford North and CAST to run a similar trial in Oxford.
We know that we need to radically cut car journeys to hit our climate targets. Our 12 participants from Oxford helped us understand the barriers to going car free, so we can campaign locally and nationally.
You can read all about how it went in our full report - or you can see what the people who took part thought about it here.
Thanks to our funders and supporters
We couldn’t deliver this project without our funders. Thank you to the Foundation for Integrated Transport, Oxfordshire County Council’s Councillor Priority Fund, and the many Oxford residents who made this project possible.
We’re also very grateful for the support of businesses and organisations supporting the trial, including Avanti Cycling, Bainton Bikes, Co Wheels, Laka Bike Insurance Collective, Pedal & Post, Voi, and Oxfordshire County Council’s road safety team.
