Play streets - reclaim your street for up to three hours a week!
Would you like to demonstrate the joy of car-free streets and give children and adults on your street the space to play, chat and connect?
You can do this by organising a temporary play street. It’s simple and free.
In Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, many of the London boroughs and numerous other UK cities, residents can organise to close their street on a regular basis to hold a play street (or community street if you prefer!).
This is a wonderful small-scale community action towards car-free cities, which can help build the case and local support for Liveable Neighbourhoods.
Our friends at Playing Out have all the information you need to do this on your street, see:
Play Streets map with specific local information for your council area and how to apply
Useful stuff to download – play street organiser manual, template letters and flyers and much more
If helping your local area to go car-free is one of your new year’s resolutions, give a play street a go!
