We won a tax on private jets!

Thank you so much to everyone who wrote to your MPs asking them to urge the Chancellor to include action on aviation emissions as part of the new Budget - we did it!

After over a thousand of us emailed to call for climate action, the government has finally brought in a new tax on private jets!

This is a huge win which paves the way for more reform to tax in aviation which makes things fairer while funding greener ways of getting around.

Today, the Chancellor announced a new tax for private jet users. Of course, this doesn’t go far enough - but to get private jet passengers paying anything at all is a huge step in the right direction.

And don’t worry, we’re not stopping there. We know that this needed to go further, and that there was plenty in the Budget which wasn’t so good, like freezing fuel duty for the 15th year and hiking up bus fares by 50% overnight.

We won’t stay silent on this. Millions of people will have seen our co-director Hirra this morning on Good Morning Britain explaining why freezing fuel duty is the wrong thing to do, and you might have seen our reaction to the Budget in the Independent, the Guardian and the Scotsman calling for the greenest ways of getting around to be funded properly.

We promise that we will keep working hard to build pressure for politicians to act, but we can only do it with your help.
