Spot on!
While London saw a drop of 35% in PM2.5 particulates (dangerous particles that can cause lung disease), Leicester also saw an impressive 20% fall. Edinburgh was in third, 17% better off.
Air pollution is not just about the way it feels and tastes to be outside. Pollutants are deadly. They weaken the heart, cause breathing difficulties, and can lead to complications in childbirth. The reduction in traffic since lockdown in the UK is estimated to have meant 1,752 fewer pollution related deaths.
The more of us who are choosing to stride and ride, the cleaner our air will be - and the more action we’ll see from the government to keep it that way.
Thanks for playing your part.
