From equality, diversity and inclusion to anti-oppression

Despite the crucial link between halting climate change and achieving a fairer, more just and equitable world, the environmental sector in the UK is still not representative of the British population.* At Possible, our vision is a zero carbon society, built by and for the people of the UK, therefore it is essential that the whole spectrum of the British public is represented in our organisation

We knew we had to take this seriously. So in 2020, we started formally working on anti-oppression. Our anti-oppression work is treated like any other public facing campaign or project, with a dedicated project manager, budget, working group, strategy, delivery plan and review process.

This report shows our whole journey, including the fact that we are not there yet.

*The 2023 Race Report indicates that only 6% of people working in the environmental sector are People of Colour or from a minority ethnic group, this is compared to 15% of the UK population 16-64 in employment.
