Congestion ahead: a faster route is now available
As lockdown eases people are returning to work.
However, with physical distancing measures in place, public transport capacity and demand are likely to be depressed for some time. Moreover, the government has discouraged public transport if at all possible, suggesting they walk, cycle, or drive.
This report quantifies the scope for behaviour change among usual public transport commuters in the short term.
This includes (i) a shift to car use among those who have access to a motor vehicle and (ii) a shift to active travel among those with short to medium distance commutes.
