Powering parks
In collaboration with Hackney Council and Scene, this report demonstrates how installing heat pumps under public green spaces can tackle climate change, improve air quality and generate income for councils and park authorities to re-invest locally.
This report reveals that the equivalent of 5 million homes could be warmed with clean heat by putting heat pumps under parks and public green spaces. If this potential is realised, 30 GW, equivalent to about 10% of the country’s total peak heat demand could be met.
This could successfully cut UK carbon emissions by 8 million tonnes each year, more than 2% of UK total emissions.
