I’m looking forward to getting started.

Thank you for taking the Stride and Ride 5 pledge! We’re all different, and the whole idea of Stride and Ride is that people take it at the pace that’s for them. The key thing is to work out when you’re going to get started! No time like the present as they say... Here are some suggestions to help you along the way.

  1. Speak to the community

Thousands of others have pledged to stride and ride with you, which means there will be others like you who have started but aren’t all the way there quite yet If you’re on Facebook join our Stride and Ride group to share your experience, ask questions you need answering and get inspiration from others!

2. Buddy up with a friend

You don’t have to travel alone, why not invite a friend on your next journey - or encourage others to join Stride and Ride too?  In these unusual times striding and riding can be a good way to socialise, not just get from A to B.

3. Get a little support

If you’re running out of steam or just in need of a little inspiration, there are some great resources available online. The Bike is Best website has some great responses to common worries and questions about cycling, if that’s your thing. We will be keeping you updated with resources to help you keep going, so sit tight and keep an eye out for our emails.

4. Switch up your route(ine)

Changing your route can be a great way to discover hidden gems and scenic places. One of the great things about active travel is that you can use streets, canal paths, river walks and parks to get to wherever you need to be - and make new discoveries even on your own turf. Plus, itit could save you time! There are a couple of great apps to make this fun:

Tree Talk

Explore London’s trees and create your daily tree walk to find different species all over the city.

Cycle Streets

Want to find a new route? The Cycle streets journey planner is designed by cyclists, for cyclists, and caters for the needs of both confident and less confident cyclists to help you get from A to B.

5. Take a well earned break

It’s alright if you’re not feeling up to finishing your 5. Why not take a break and brush up on your knowledge around climate justice.
