After our landmark research experiment of supporting a dozen people to go car free in 2022, we’re doing it again - and this time we’re looking for people in Oxford. Could one of them be you?
In 2022, we teamed up with local residents from cities across the UK to research what it’s like to try living car free. Now we’re ready to do it again, with a new cohort of people living in Oxford.
We know that we need to radically cut car journeys to hit our climate targets. Our 12 participants from Oxford will help us understand the barriers to going car free, so we can campaign locally and nationally.
Along with our partners, Low Carbon Oxford North and CAST, we’re looking for a diverse group of 12 people who…
Live, study, and/or work in Oxford.
Drive regularly (e.g. several times a week).
Want to try giving up their car for three weeks in March 2024.
Why should you apply?
You’ll receive £150 just for taking part, AND your travel expenses (like public transport fares) will be covered for your three car-free weeks.
You’ll be part of a supportive group who are all taking on the challenge at the same time.
You’ll get help and advice from dedicated local campaigners.
You’ll be offered FREE adult cycling training, and maybe even a free cargo bike (for the trial).
You’ll support vital research about the barriers to people taking up sustainable transport options in Oxford and around the UK.
What would we need from you?
Commitment to taking part in the trial by trying to give up your car for three weeks in March 2024.
Helping us understand your experiences, for example by taking part in two interviews and telling us about your day to day journeys during the trial.
Being happy to be featured in a case study about how you found the trial, for example through quotes and photos that you provide. You can use your first name only.
