Nightingale Estate Parklet
Hackney’s first community parklet on a housing estate.
Like many housing estates in London, the Nightingale Estate used to be dominated by parked cars belonging to non-residents. Since Hackney Council introduced parking restrictions there is an abundance of grey concrete and empty spaces, as most of the estate residents don’t own cars. Then the unused space became a dumping ground for rubbish.
Local residents decided to introduce more nature, planting flowerbeds and adding potted plants.
Now they want to go further and create a beautiful green parklet.
With the design drafted, and a local carpenter (who built a parklet in Hackney last year) ready to build, the only thing left to do is raise the cash.
To make this parklet a reality, we need to raise £2,000 to cover materials, construction, plants and insurance for the parklet.
To raise this money, we’ve created a crowdfunding campaign so that residents, friends, family, neighbours, and anyone who wants to support the transition to a cleaner, greener London, can chip in.
We have until 15th May to reach our target.
Will you donate to make the Nightingale parklet a reality?
As part of our parklets campaign, we are working with two groups in East London to reclaim parking spaces and turn them into green and vibrant community meeting places.
