Elite status: Global inequalities in flying
This report studies who exactly is flying in 26 of the countries with the highest emissions from aviation and shows for the first time the stark inequalities at play worldwide. In almost all of these countries, less than half of the population fly each year.
The results of this report confirm that policies which aim to reduce aviation emissions by increasing the cost of frequent flying is the way to approach tackling the climate crisis fairly. This ensures that the people with greater responsibility for emissions make bigger changes.
